hello there my friend is buying three pure breds of this dealer and i went with him and i belive they are pure bred but they also havr black speckles over the rest of there body could they still be pure bred ?
AFAIK they should be white bar the black on the neck and maybe a bit on the tail. We had a few a while back and they didnt have speckles all over. If they did, they definately werent noticable
You are advertising purebred show quality light sussex birds for sale and then you go and ask a question about light sussex having speckles on them or not Absolutely incredible the people selling poultry these days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey dere ollie mac, conor is posting the same questions on all the irish poultry foroums,he is harmless, but also very inexperienced, its great that he has the interest in sumthing like poultry, but do beware that he is only 15 r 16 and has alot of learning 2 do !!!

I Couldn't agree more. It is great to see so many people after getting involved in poultry in the last 2 or 3 years. But and it a big but the quality of poultry seems to have just gone down the tubes here. Every sale in the country is flooded with poor quality dieased birds with people asking crazy money. I'm a firm beliver in its as easy keep a good bird as a bad one. I go to the ends of the earth to get the best that i can get here and even aboard and am always trying to improve what i have. And it nice to have meet some like minded people on here !!!
like you say john big interest in poultry these days and with a bit of luck things will get better i,d be of the same mind and try to get the best i can even at the big club/society sale,s here the standard of a lot of bird is less than good and util this changes the fancy here will suffer thats not takin away from all the people who are strivin for perfection in thier birds but sadly they are a minority in this country
The amount of people that have been riped off is unreal i saw a guy selling pure bred white leghorns that were utility leghorns which is a big diffrance. I also when up to get some light sussex hens a few months ago and they were sussex stars now if you don't know L sussex you could be fooled into thinking they were real and the worst of all are the guys selling RIR when all they are are hybreds i even came across a lady (using that term losely) she had bought some hybreds and crossed them back with a RIR cock so that they looked more like RIR's than hybreds . And finaly i had a guy call me everything under the sun because i told him what he was selling were not pure and that RIR's had no white in them at all well what he did not call me i supose i was sticking my nose in were it was not wanted as he was selling them to a kid around 9years old i just could not see the kid get riped of like i was when i started and i am 37.
It just turns my stomach sometimes when i go to sales and see whats going on. One thing in the back of my mind is when this phase of "keeping a few hens for eggs" is over what is going to happen to all the s#%t that been bred in the last few years ???
at a sale in kildare this summer there was a lad sellin marrons that had been eatting each other missing feathers and open sores on thier backs (stress and over crowding) god knows what else was wrong with them wat i said to him cant really be repeated here but he didnt give a flyin **** and the same told to mind my own and what did i know ect ect the only good thing he didnt seem to be sellin to many
