think its been banned here for a good few years
but i think you have a case for snaring if a fox is at live stock

Snaring foxes isnt banned. You need a stopper on the snare (which is on the ones you buy from shops) so that it wont tighten on a cows, deers leg etc. But snaring is fine. You should try to check them at least twice a day.
Do you have a problem fox?? If you need info on snaring let me know.

hi lads, was told this by a poultry breeder that this was a new ban to be introduced soon on all snares even the ones with the stopper .it might be only in the UK though, hope not, caught 3 this last month.

Sorry Monea, im not sure about the Legalitys in the North or the UK.
There is always talk of groups trying to ban things like snares etc. One recently was the Ward Union Hunt to be banned.
In the Republic it is still legal to use snares for unprotected species such as foxes and rabbits.
Il try get the link to the wildlife act for you now.

    Here Monea,
    http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1977/en/si/0307.html

    In Particular....
( b ) a stop snare with a minimum length from noose to stop of 13 inches in case it is intended to snare foxes and 6½ inches in case it is intended to snare rabbits and which complies with the following, namely:

    (i) a swivel is incorporated in the snare,

(ii) the snare is designed so that when it is used it will be securely tied to a fixed object,

(iii) the snare is designed so that for the purpose of avoiding catching large animals (for example deer, cattle or horses) by the leg when it is used a jump bar, i.e. a cross-bar at least two feet above the ground and supported by a pair of forked sticks fixed not less than two feet apart, may also be used,
I always find these writtin in riddles lol but i hope this helps. ;)
