point of lay ?????

evenin all , i have ten pol pullets at the moment, i bought them a month ago, they were 12 and 14 wks old at the time, now 16 and 18 weeks old, dont get me wrong, am not in a panic , but am wondering if they will lay in the next month, they are sussex ponte,daisybells, lohman browns and white stars, i have them for eggs only and i do know that they are hybrids, any advice welcome,thanks shamie

    I can only speakfor myself, but my girls didn't start laying until they were 6 months old. Saying that, it's been a very harsh winter, so that would have stalled them laying anyway. They just started laying in the last 3 weeks.

    I suppose all I can say is, be patient, they will lay! It's what they do :) Just make sure their housing is comfortable, and that they have food and fresh water. Also, if they're allowed roam free...check around....they may not lay in their house (and in fact probably won't at first)

    I don't know much about the specific breeds you have, but I would imagine they will be laying soon! Keep the faith! ;)

    Well it's ironic with the cold weather etc, that this is the first year my hens laid over the whole winter, so we had fresh eggs around christmas. So yeah hang on in there.

    the laying has started, one yestarday and two eggs today, hopefully they will all get the idea now, ha,ha
