Bruised Beaks?

I have 6 chicks altogether but 3 chicks (1 is 2 1/2 and 2 are 3 1/2 weeks old) look like they have a large black bruise on their beaks (close to the nostrils) which has just developed over the last couple of days. I have 2 water bottles attached to the sides of their brooder and they peck at it quite fiercely, they seem to really enjoy getting the water from it! I've also have a dish for water in with them in case they have problems getting used to the bottles and they drink from the dish occasionally, but they seem to have more fun with the bottles. One of my other Sussex ponte's beak is absolutely fine, a kind of pale yellow colour and looks healthy and she loves the bottles just as much as the others. My other 2 are black rocks and I can't tell if their beaks are discoloured as they're already very dark.

Has this every happened to the beaks of other young chicks?

Thanks a mill!

Yeah that's probably the reason alright...but I've just added a couple of pics so you can see the difference in their beaks. I've taken out the rabbit bottle drinkers for a little while to see if this makes a difference over the next couple of days. They're all in great form and eating and drinking well so I'll see how it goes :)
