Selling eggs

I have a small number of eggs left over each week that I am giving away to neighbours, friends etc; does anyone know what the laws are for selling eggs. In the UK the eggs have to be ungraded, clean and with a best by date as long as only a small number are sold, i.e. not on a commercial basis. Are the laws the same here?. Thanks.

    Hi
I dont really know much about this only what i have read elsewhere. I dont think you are allowed to avertise "eggs for sale" at your gate. Some people put up signs saying "fresh eggs" to get around this. We had extra hen and duck eggs here and went to our local shop. They would not take the hen eggs ( too many restrictions) but started taking the duck eggs. Then when the salmonella scare somewhere down the country happened, the department got strict on the shops and it wasnt worth the hassle. Maybe someone else here will know more.
