you could put down some wood shavings on shed floor, handy to clear out. you can buy them in a bale at your local farm supplies store or if you know of a saw mill nearby you can get them there.

they will do perfect.. just maybe put some place for them to roost up, nest boxes are easy sorted, you have half the battle sorted

well have at least 11 hatched 2 more still there, so will give them another day or so see how it goes.. all seem to be doing ok as far as I can see..

yeah been wondering the same, have woodshavings on floor at moment but as you say, they get flicked into feeder etc.. so might round up some newspaper for first few days..

no just the ground they can scratch and peck away at it, I live out in the sticks so they have plenty room to wander about my 2 dogs dont bother with them really... one likes to come into pen to hoover up any feed left over

I normally just grab them by putting a hand either side to stop them flapping their wings then tuck them under your arm.. or one under each if your carrying 2

Thanks for the advice!! One egg today so far.. In the nesting box..She came in to coop while I was sorting it out this morning so I put her up into box.. She had a fidgit around then layed the egg shortly after!!

Well 2 eggs today!! to my surprise. But not in the nesting boxes..lol.. instead one dragged all the hay out to the coop floor and laid one there, the other decided to hop over the wire into the veg patch and lay hers in there . Not sure what time…
